Overview

The largest and centermost island of the Kamiato archipelago is known as the Imperial Heart. Its Heartland encompasses lush rice paddies, fertile plains, and snow-capped mountains. The primeval Spiritwood, abundant with magical and mundane life, stretches across its center. The Iron Fangs, a mountainous, volcanic territory along the eastern side of the Imperial Heart is a rocky and harsh landscape shrouded by clouds of ash belched from its rumbling volcanoes. Stretching across the southern seaboard, extending off of the Iron Fangs is the chain of islands known as the Dragon Isles, buffeted with balmy sea breezes. To the north, the mysterious island chain known as the Isles of Mist features swampy lowlands, bamboo groves, hidden valleys, and treacherous mountains. Here, the border with the spirit world wears thin. And finally, in the northwesternmost part of the archipelago is the miasmic Oboro Wastes, from which the river of the underworld flows.

Seasons and Climate

The Kamiato archipelago has four distinct seasons that each last around two months each year (the average month is about 50 days long). The coasts of the Imperial Heart have hot, humid summers with high levels of precipitation all throughout the year. Further inland has greater temperature variations between summer and winter, and some parts receive substantially less rainfall due to the mountains. The Isles of Mist, in the north, have cold winters and milder, but still humid summers, with frequent but light rainfall year round. The Dragon Isles, to the south, are warm to hot all throughout the year, with frequent precipitation at its greatest during the winter months. The Iron Fangs is the driest of Kamiato's regions, with cold winters and warm summers with limited precipitation, particularly during the summer months. The inland parts of the Imperial Heart, and especially the higher elevations throughout Kamiato, and the north islands tend to have moderate to heavy snowfall in the winters.
