Human Details

Humans, also known as Long-Legs, are a tall and ambitious people. They are the most populous people across the lands of Kamiato. This coupled with their unwavering determination has led them to build up the most powerful clans and societies of Kamiato. Their varied lifestyles and range of experiences have led them to become arguably one of the most diverse ancestries as well.

Appearance and Physiology

The other humanoid peoples of Kamiato often note humans as distinguished by their long legs. They are the second tallest on average, beaten only by ogres. They typically do not live longer than a century, and lifespans between 60 and 80 years are common. The average human is not as bulky as an orc, nor are they as slender as an elf, their build is most similar to a halfling, only a fair deal taller. Fully grown humans usually stand between 5 and 6 feet tall, with exceptional individuals ranging another foot taller or shorter.

Most humans in Kamiato have dark hair and a range of skin tones from light to dark.

Society

Humans are one of the most dominant peoples in Kamiato. They make up roughly a fourth of the archipelago's population, and both Hinode's imperial line and the Steel Shōgun are human, as are many of Hinode's most powerful clans. Human influence over the Spiritwood and the Isles of Mist are limited however, and the orcs fiercely compete for dominance over the Dragon Isles.

Human Variants

Humans have four variants to choose from that represent their upbringing and training.

Astute Humans

Astute humans are those that have spent their lives honing their mental abilities. They tend to become highly specialized experts in certain subjects, ignoring all other areas of study for the sake of mastery. Some become sages, learning all they can from tomes and scrolls. Others sit at the feet of the wise, seeking to emulate the elders of their clan or temple. And still others master the persuasive arts, honing their social skills.

Generalist Humans

Some humans never settle down, and instead spend their lives learning to do a bit of everything. These wanderers are known as Generalists. They become restless if they stay in one place for too long, so they spend their lives experiencing as many things as they possibly can. Generalists usually find their way in the world as wandering entertainers, sell swords, or hired hands. Their desire to experience foreign lands and new cultures often leads them to pursue a life of adventure.

Vigorous Humans

By far the most common, Vigorous humans form the down to earth backbone of nearly all human settlements. Hailing from the ranks of farmers and herdsmen, woodsmen and hunters, masons and carpenters, they know the value of a hard day's work. Vigorous humans often leave their humble beginnings to protect their homes and families. Forging their plows into weapons, they embark on lives of adventure. No matter how far they travel, they never forget their humble beginnings.

Specialist Humans

Some humans are trained beyond normal specialization and are raised from a young age to fulfill a specific duty. Whether they are trained as elite warriors, or hone minds to awaken psionic abilities, Specialist humans are capable of skill and ability beyond that of even the most fantastical races.
